About Us
We are collectors at heart, and we aim to provide the most up-to-date release information for Plastic Figures and Plastic Kits straight from the source.
Where Can I Buy Items Listed Here?
Simply click on one of our partner links in the item's detail page. Depends on availability and pre-order deadlines. If you absolutely want something, pre-order is the way to ensure you can secure a copy. Otherwise, you will have to gamble on availability after the release date, as well as current market fluctuations.
Our current partners (as of October 2024):
Japan: CD Japan, HOBBY SEARCH, HobbyLink Japan, J-List, Solaris Japan, Animota, viviON Blue
Hong Kong: Play-Asia
USA: Lunar Toy Store, Buy Anime, Curnchyroll
I want to buy [INSERT ITEM NAME HERE] from you directly!!
Before contacting us to buy any figures, this is the simple rule and fact: Otaku HQ does not sell anything directly, nor we have any items for sale.
If what you want is listed here, just buy directly from one of our partners. No guarantees if our partners will have the item(s) in stock if they are already released, and pre-order quotas can be used up quickly for some items.
If what you are looking for is not listed on the website, please DO NOT contact us for availability (we will completely IGNORE your questions). Just go ahead and try other sources (Mandarake, Jungle, Yahoo Japan auctions, etc).
Should I buy from eBay?
Go ahead, but deal at your own risks with any sellers located in mainland China and Hong Kong, as most of they are known for selling counterfeit products since early 2000s.
How Complete Are Your Listings?
Our records have around 98% of most regular products released after 2008.
We have an age-restricted "adults-only" section for figures with explicit nudity.
For "events-only", "store(s) exclusive" and "website-exclusive" figures, they will be listed only if one of our featured partners are carrying them.
How Accurate are the Release Dates??
We use official sources for all schedule changes when available, except for store-exclusive products where there are no reliable data from official channels.
Current list of companies with no "direct" official notifications for release date changes:
ANIPLEX, FuRyu (FuRyu Hobby Mall exclusives), AMAKUNI AmiAmi exclusives, FREEing (Premium Bandai exclusives), and most China-based companies (for example: AniGift, AniGame).
Why you have products under "Plastic Figure" and "PVC Figure"?? Are they different???
The term "PVC Figure" is a legacy term still being used by most companies for their scale figure releases, and first used by KOTOBUKIYA when they introduced plastic figures made primarily with PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) back in 2003.
These days, most figures are still made with primarily PVC plus some ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene).
Starting in January 2023, we updated our naming conventions to use "Plastic Figure" going forward, and old entries will keep using "PVC Figure" until they receive a new production run. All other product naming conventions will remain the same.
What's the deal with some of FREEing products listed in the adult section??
With GSC launched their new website in February 2024, certain FREEing products are notably absent from the GSC website after removing the option to search for "18+" products (GSC normally handles the distribution for many FREEing products, as well as making them available for pre-orders on their online store). As such, these Plastic Figures from FREEing that are not listed on GSC website are now treated as adult products on a case-by-case basis.
What's the deal with B'full / FOTS JAPAN??
As they are the only company in the industry using PMMA (a very brittle plastic compared to the classic PVC) as the primary material for most of their products, plus the fact that they will not honor any after-sales support for any overseas customers, leaving most of our partners to stop making their products available to customers outside Japan. While we have two to three partners still making their products available, buy them at your own risk as PMMA are just too brittle to survive a long trip plus rough handling even if the box is packed carefully, with plenty of complaints online from various fellow collectors in Japan since the days when B'full used the Pulchra brand name and later switched to FOTS JAPAN.
Any information regarding which products from GSC are made at their factory in Tottori??
After GSC combined their website with their online shop together in February 2024, this piece of information is no longer disclosed for all pre-order products listed since then.
Where are all the images for [INSERT ITEM NAME HERE]???
This site has covered tons of products since 2007, and over time, the amount of pictures we have on the site is slowly catching up with our hosting limits, and badly affects the server's daily backups. We have decided to only keep full collection of images for all products on the site released within the last 3 years.
This is necessary to keep the site running smoothly, if any affected products are coming back in the future, we will re-upload the images.
