I'm happy to finally have the Valimar I've been waiting for for 10 years.
As expected, the engraving that worried me is not painted and does not come with adhesive, so you need to paint it.
The range of motion is reasonable and you may be forced to take on bold action poses in the story.
It's hard to paint, but I liked it because it was great.
The marketing of Order has also been decided, so I hope other knights come out this way.

In some ways, this kit is a dream come true. In others, it is a nightmare that haunted me for several weeks. From the time I first saw Valimar at the end of Trails of Cold Steel (Sen no Kiseki) I felt, "damn, that would make an amazing model kit". And here we are, some 7~ years later.

The out-of-box build is very underwhelming in my opinion and not very close visually to the character as he appears in games and art. The only pre-painted parts on this kit are a few (not all) of the aquamarine gems, a gold band on the forehead, and a little dark grey on the sword. Otherwise it is all a dull grey/silver and satin off/black. He comes with seven extra hands and his sword. There is no display base included.

I am no stranger to painting my kits, but the parts separation on this kit is really not good. It required a lot of masking and careful painting in various forms to get the body, gold trim and black panelling to look accurate, and because it is actually not a very large kit (roughly the side of HGUC Sazabi), the difficulty on the gold is compounded. I think at a minimum, a buyer will want to paint the trim detailing, and that will help a lot visually. The reference images on the box, while pretty, are CG renders with artificial lighting, so it can be difficult to make out what part is what colour sometimes. I had to boot up the game and reference it directly.

The sculpt is very nice and I have no complaints regarding pose-ability. It's roughly in line with a High Grade Gundam kit from Bandai. I have build and painted the Escaflowne Moderoid in the past, and it is roughly on par in this regard (though Escaflowne did not have the parts separation issues i had with Valimar.

Overall, I would not recommend this kit to a beginner plamo builder. I think even intermediates would have some difficulty with the painting if they wanted to do any more than just the gold trim (which, again, should be done at a minimum for this kit, really). If you are experienced with painting your kits and like the character/series, I would recommend it. I must admit, I love what I achieved in the final result - it just wasn't very fun getting there.

I look forwards to other Divine Knights; I just hope they can improve on the colour separation issues.
